A Review of the Best Books on Self-Improvement

What is Motivational Books? These are basically books that provide individuals with information regarding how to improve their lives in some way. The most commonly known form of these is the “entials” or “how-to” kind of books, and they are very common indeed. However, there are also a lot of self help books available in the form of audio books, video guides, and eBooks, which provide individuals with more specific information regarding their own particular interests and lifestyle choices.

One example of a very popular book that provides people with information regarding how to improve their outlook on life and their lives in general is “The Secret.” The work of self-help author and motivational speakers Oprah Winfrey and her famous son, tracker, inspired this book and as a result has sold more than three million copies. In this amazing book, the authors repeatedly encourage us to “own our own mind,” to take control of our thinking, feelings, and actions instead of being controlled by the opinions, judgment, and fear that we might receive from others. This amazing work of literature inspires individuals to learn how to deliberately cultivate positive thoughts, to “own our minds,” and to act with courage instead of fear.

Another example of popular motivational books that are available in the form of audio recordings include such classic works as “The Power Of Positive Thinking,” by Dr. John Gray and “The Answer,” by Dr. David Simon. These two books inspired the movie, “The Secret,” and have been widely discussed on the Oprah Winfrey talk show. In fact, in an episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” when the topic of inspiring the “negativities” in people came up, a visibly irritated Oprah said,” “Books don’t lie. And if you don’t believe them, I just want to say that I love books that don’t sell.”

Mark Manson’s “The Psychology of Self-Esteem: Tools for Improving Your Life and Understanding the Behavior Systems That Cause You to Fail” is also another well-regarded self-help book that encourages people to learn the skills it takes to develop and enhance their self-esteem and assertiveness. The book’s fourteen strategies to improving your self-esteem and assertiveness are not only highly motivating for its readers, but for the authors as well. Author Mark Manson freely admits that creating these strategies was a personal challenge, but he has received enormous personal satisfaction from the results.

Another collection of thirteen books that contain some of the best quotes and practical advice regarding almost every aspect of life is “The Book of Mind.” Steve Jobs is quoted liberally throughout this excellent collection of motivational books, as isigmatherapy’s Dr. Norman Vincent Peal, and author Robert Kiyosaki. All of these authors provide clear and practical guidance regarding all areas of life and give specific examples of how they themselves have overcome problems or turned setbacks into opportunities. This book is an excellent resource for anyone who is serious about developing and improving his/her self-esteem and/or assertiveness.

Other collections of motivational books may not take as much interest in solving one’s particular problems or challenges, but rather to provide general tips and advice that may prove helpful in other areas. For instance, if you are struggling with feelings of depression or anxiety, one book on how to manage your emotions may prove helpful in helping you conquer such negative feelings. Similarly, if your habit of procrastination causes you to feel like nothing is going right, one book on setting goals and using motivation might help you take action and make positive changes in your life. Whatever your problem or challenge, the inspirational ideas found in these motivational books will encourage and motivate you to find a solution and take action toward your goal.
